- What do I need to do to prepare my lawn for the winter?
Aerating & Fertilization gives your lawn a chance to breathe before the grass goes dormant and helps relieve any compaction that has built up during the warmer months. Fertilizing your lawn gives your grass the essential nutrients it needs as it prepares for winter. The grassroots absorb and store the nutrients during the winter months. - What are the benefits of aeration?
Soil can become compacted for a number of reasons. Compacted soil becomes harder for water to get through, which can stunt grass growth. When an experienced landscaper aerates your grass, it gives the grass access to air and water, allowing deeper and stronger root growth.
- How often should I mow my lawn?
Normally weekly mowing is the rule, but some lawns need cutting more often. Some lawns grow slower than others and might need cutting only once every ten days or two weeks. Make sure to discuss with your landscaper what the best cutting schedule will be for your lawn. Generally speaking, don't cut off more than one-third of the grass blade.

- When you install a lawn, do you use sod or seed?
If you're looking for instant results, sod installation is the way to go. Sodding is the fastest way of establishing a lawn, while hydroseeding is the slower option. For this reason, sod installs typically cost more than hydroseeding. At Platinum Property Care, an experienced landscaper will discuss your options with you before making a recommendation.
- There are areas of my yard where the grass won't grow. Is there something you can do to help?
We will inspect the area to determine whether or not the soil is loamy. Loamy topsoil refers to having a balance of sand, silt, and clay soil which is not optimal for best results. After inspecting the area, this will tell us whether or not additional topsoil is required.
